Solar Dial is a privacy-first Android solar instrument that calculates local
apparent solar time, true solar azimuth and elevation, sunrise, solar noon,
and sunset entirely on device.

Features:

  • Local apparent solar time with second-level display updates.
  • Offline NOAA-style solar calculations using true geographic azimuths.
  • An optional physical horizontal dial registered to true heading when the
phone is level and its rotation-vector sensor is usable.
  • A live home-screen widget with explicit manual, cached, stale, polar, and
    no-location states.
  • Foreground GPS only, a manual coordinate option, and a private local cache.
  • No Internet permission, accounts, analytics, advertising, or telemetry.

Physical compass alignment is most reliable away from ferromagnetic objects
after calibrating the device. Widget updates are best effort and may be
deferred by Android.
