Newlay turns your phone into a real nostr relay. It runs the same engine as newlay on
Linux servers, packaged as a tiny app that keeps the relay running in the background.

Small and lean

  • A ~12 MB download, and that is the whole relay: storage, indexes, search and sync.
  • No AndroidX, no Google Play services, no trackers, no ads.
  • One embedded LMDB database. Events, indexes and search commit atomically.

A real relay

  • NIPs 1, 9, 11, 29, 40, 42, 43, 45, 50, 70, 77, 86.
  • Full-text search (NIP-50), groups (NIP-29) and negentropy sync (NIP-77).
  • Remote management (NIP-86): set an admin by pasting an npub or with Amber.
  • Serve just this phone (127.0.0.1) or your whole LAN, with optional start on boot.
  • Back up and restore the relay to a single portable file.
