WalletScrutiny App is primarily meant to collect apk files where they happen - on the users' phones.
At WalletScrutiny.com we test if apps can be audited and for that, we have to test if the app people run matches the app's source code the provider claims to have built the app from.
Therefore, this app monitors a list of currently about 60 wallets that claim to be source available. When you start the app, all such wallet apps are searched on the phone and listed. All installation files get fingerprinted and checked for prior reproducibility testing. If we have tested these exact files, results are shown. If the apk is unknown, the app uploads and registers it publicly on nostr so it can be verified.
We do not have ambitions to be a big consumer app but due to how the Play Store works, we cannot get to all the apks easily so having at least one user per country and screen size would really be great to make sure we don't miss files targetting a certain group.
If you use this app it would be nice if you could install some of those relevant wallets and allow them to auto-update, so we get to inspect new versions as soon as they happen. For any wallets that you do use for your Bitcoins, we always recommend to disable auto-updates!
