Buffer is a calm space between you and the internet: a Nostr app made for your peace of mind. There's no feed to doomscroll, no algorithm and no ads.

At its heart is your buffer, a small AI that lives on your phone. It reads replies before you do, sets the toxic ones aside, and helps you post like yourself. It runs entirely on your device, so nothing it reads ever leaves it.

What your buffer does

  • Reads replies first. Insults, sneering put-downs, pile-ons, bait and scams are set aside before they reach you, and never ping you. Word filters you can tune catch the obvious stuff instantly; the AI catches what they miss.
  • A gentle check before you post. If a draft might come across as an attack, Buffer pauses and offers a calmer way to say the same thing. You always decide.
  • Summarise. The mood of the replies to any post, in a sentence or two.
  • Engage. The few replies worth your time, so you can answer the people who are really talking to you. It can draft a reply for you to edit, too.
  • Your choice of model. Qwen3 0.6B (397 MB) by default, or Google's Gemma 3 1B (720 MB) in Settings. Download it once; the AI itself never needs a connection.

Calm by design

  • Your home is your own posts and the replies to them, not an endless feed.
  • Like and comment counts are hidden by default. People matter more than scores.
  • A small bubble shows what's new since you last looked.
  • The Replies tab gathers answers to your replies, already screened.
  • Optional notifications (hourly, every 3 hours, or a daily check-in) never show what anyone said.

Nostr, your way

  • Start with just a name. Your key is made and kept on your phone, in the Android Keystore. No email, no phone number.
  • Already on Nostr? Log in with a signer app such as Amber, Primal or nsec.app (NIP-46), so your key never touches Buffer, or paste an nsec. Logging in posts nothing.
  • Zap thoughtful replies with Nostr Wallet Connect (Alby Hub, Primal, Coinos and others), and add a lightning address so people can zap you.
  • Pick your own relays. Profile and relay-list changes merge with what your other Nostr apps have set.
  • Speak a post instead of typing it.

No ads, no analytics and no Buffer servers.

Needs a 64-bit ARM phone (arm64-v8a). The optional AI download is 397 MB or 720 MB.
